story

I often find areas in my paintings which remind me of the shapes of stones and rocks that are found in Denmark by the Baltic Sea. I am very inspired by my surroundings and nature, and take a holistic approach to my artmaking.

As a child, I was recognized for my creativity and painting at an early age.
I remember my father hiding my artworks to keep for himself. Although I whined and begged him to give them back, he would’t reveal his hiding place because he so loved my pictures.

In elementary school there was a drawing competition on the subject of music. I painted a story of my favorite song and won first prize, a concert guitar. My school days fueled my imagination due to the well-constructed art classes in Germany.

During my professional studies, I chose art  education to teach at primary and secondary school. Under the influence of the noted lecturer, Manfred Kästner in  Heidelberg, I developed a free, autonomous visual language.

While I worked for several years as an art educator, it was very important for me to encourage children to find and appreciate their own solutions. It was interesting  to listen to the children’s  thoughts about their artwork in their presentation afterwards.

Motivating children to take an individual approach to modern art and learning from their playful approach to art at the same time, was my greatest contribution in my work as an art educator.

I began working full time as an  artist in Denmark in January 2022. I don’t regret my decision.

I don’t have one specific way I approach my paintings. I usually paint on wood, using acrylics combined with chalk. For larger areas in the painting, I prefer to use spray color.

The majority of my work is on panels as large as 1.2m x 1m. I have occasionally done smaller works but feel more comfortable painting larger panels. I have been combining panels next to each other to make one even larger work of art.

My work is intensely personal to me and integral to my identity as a person of this world. I feel free to be alternately serious and whimsical, and my work expresses my pathways to my inner realities.
